AgriFood Skills Australia will host its fifth AgriFood2010 National Conference in Melbourne on 23 September.

Australia's Regions: Australia's Future

The conference will comprise a full one-day conference on Thursday 23 September featuring keynote presentations and interactive industry panels.

Some 200 leading industry and government representatives are expected to attend and speakers will focus on contemporary and future issues affecting the industry, the economy, employment, training and workplace capacity as well as current and future skill, workforce and training needs.

Conference Program

A finalised conference program is now available to view, and speakers have been announced.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Hagen Stehr AO, Founding Director of Clean Seas Tuna Ltd
  • Michael Creed, Agribusiness Economist NAB
  • John Foss, Founder and Managing Director of The Chia Company

Leading industry and academic speakers and panelists will provide an interactive program around the critical importance of regional Australia. The conference will have a focus on AgriFood’s successful employer and community driven initiatives to attract, develop and retain workers in the regions. This examines regional-driven solutions supported by projects already established and on the findings from the Environmental Scan.   

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will be held on Wednesday 22 September, with pre-dinner drinks from 7.00pm. Changing the dinner to Wednesday night allows a single overnight stay. Conference registration includes the conference dinner but 'Conference Only' registration is also available.  Provision has been made for additional dinner bookings.

AgriFood Skills International Fellowships

Awards of three International Fellowships will be anounced at the conference dinner. Please note that applications have now closed.

Background

The National Industry Conference 2010 in Melbourne – Australia’s Regions: Australia’s Future - will be the fifth annual conference prepared by AgriFood Skills Australia.
